Fuck Action Bronson!

In the making of "The Chase" album, one of my musical goals was to produce the ultimate posse track. (Think: Crooklyn Dodgers or Don't Curse)

So, I had the beat in mind and thought about who I should CHASE to feature on the track.

The first MC that I knew had to be on the track was Jeru The Damaja. He had been a favorite of mine for a long time, and I initially wanted him to be on a track of his own for "The Chase" but came to the conclusion that he would be a hot way to finish the album, the last verse on the last song of "The Chase". When I knew Jeru would be on the joint, I also came to the conclusion that the last track, the posse track, would also be the title track.

Buckshot and Chubb Rock were then easy choices. I knew Buckshot would be a great lead, but was uncertain on how he would handle the speed of the track. Trust me, when i received that wav file and laid it over the beat for the first time, I had a new appreciation for the skills of the BDI MC. I was truly amazed. Chubb Rock has always been a favorite of mine, so I was quite confident of the good job he eventually did on the track.

My final MC, that i wanted at the 3rd spot, I wanted someone current, who still could hold it down with my favorite MC's. Therefore Action Bronson was the automatic choice. I got in contact with his then manager Dante Ross through Twitter, gave him the money, and he promised me Bam would be good to go. I was probably pestering Dante for about a good month to get my verse. Then I find out, Bam had changed his management. So I was now CHASING a dude named Dro Greindstein. (Action Bronson was not acknowledging me for most of this whole time) Dro was actually really cool, and would be in regular contact telling me what was going on. Long story short, in the end, Bam decides not to do the verse, as he has now been signed to a major, and doesn't have the time to complete my verse. After more time, I finally get my money back, 3/4 of it. Bam tells me Dante kept 1/4. Dante tells me Bam is lying. I can't be bothered anymore and call it a loss.

So instead, I enlist the services of Pharoahe Monch, who worked out to be the same price as Action Bronson and probably has like 20x the skill and talent. Pharoahe does his verse within 2 weeks. (Like most of the other professionals on "The Chase") The song is much better off for having Pharoahe on it.

Anyway, as a thank you for being one of my subscribers, I want to give it away to you free, no strings attached.

Download the title track "The Chase feat. Buckshot, Chubb Rock, Pharoahe Monch & Jeru The Damaja here.

If you like the joint, you might want to consider checking out the whole album, "The Chase". It's full of the best MC's in the world that i would like to think makes Action Bronson pissed off that he now ain't on it.

Peace
